David Vau is a French horn player, teacher and arranger. He trained at the Bordeaux Conservatoire, studying with Joseph Hirshovitz, as well as at the Conservatoire des Landes under Sylvain Delorme.
Over the course of his career, he has performed with a wide range of orchestras, including the Orchestre Symphonique de Gironde, the Orchestre Symphonique du Pays Basque, Les Symphonistes d’Aquitaine and the Opéra de Tours.
Alongside his orchestral work, David is an active chamber musician. He appears regularly in brass quintet concerts and gives recitals with pianist Théophile Dudreuilh in addition to his concerts with Ensemble Traversées.
A passionate advocate for the French horn, he is devoted to broadening and refreshing the repertoire available to horn players. He has spent more than a decade creating original arrangements for his instrument and championing forgotten or rarely performed works.
In addition to his performing career, he is deeply committed to music education. He teaches the horn through the Orchestre à l’École programme and at several music schools across Nouvelle-Aquitaine.
