Traver’sons is an orchestra composed of flutists at all levels mentored by the professional musicians of Ensemble Traversées. It gives amateur players an opportunity to experience the stage, bring to life mixed arts shows in professional settings, advance their musical skills, and share their passion with a wider audience.

Founded around twenty years ago by Myriam Darmé, Traver’sons showcases the full array of Western concert flutes, including bass flutes, alto flutes, standard C flutes, piccolos and historical instruments. Depending on the occasion, the ensemble’s configuration can range from a trio to a full orchestra of over fifty flutists, sometimes accompanied by other instruments.

Carmen, The Magic Flute, The Four Seasons, Johann Sebastian Bach, The History of the Flute, The Cinema… The music in Traver’sons‘ productions is entirely rewritten and arranged especially for flute orchestra.

Among its many activities, Traver’sons regularly performs as a flute quintet and piano for seniors in their place of residence. The group is supported and joined on stage by a professional flutist and pianist from Ensemble Traversées. They developed a concert program designed to stimulate and maintain the musical memory of our elders, featuring an array of short and diverse pieces centered around travel. Throughout the performance, the quintet introduces traditional flutes from around the globe and occasionally invites the audience to join in singing. These one to one-and-a-half-hour sessions never fail to foster joy, spark meaningful exchanges and start rich conversations, often concluding with a friendly gathering over refreshments.
