\"\"Dan Jones\u00a0<\/strong><\/span>is a guitarist, composer and arranger in high demand as both a performer and an educator. As a soloist, his career has taken him to many countries including Hungary, Brunei, Japan and France. He has toured with the Welsh National Opera Orchestra, performed Rodrigo\u2019s \u201cConcierto de Aranjuez\u201d at St David’s Hall, the National Concert Hall of Wales, and appeared in duo with leading guitarists such as Ray Burley. <\/p>\n

He also plays the baroque guitar, performing with many baroque consorts and touring extensively with the Consort de Danse Baroque. Alongside his classical work, Dan is an accomplished jazz guitarist and has taught jazz theory at national conservatoire level. He currently performs with the Lindy Hop jazz band The Flip Flop Hoppers and the folk quartet Arisan.<\/p>\n

A prolific composer and arranger, he has an extensive catalogue of over 150 scores published by Lathkill Music, Corda Music and Sheet Music Plus. He also published four tutor books, including \u201cIn Touch With Guitar\u201d, an audio tutor in the form of a five-CD set; \u201cReading Jazz Chords, A Guide for Guitarists\u201d, released in 2009 to excellent reviews, and \u201cPrima Vista\u201d, a collection of 160 sight-reading exercises published by ESG Music in 2014. He has composed and directed music for eight plays at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama. Among his numerous works for solo guitar and for chamber music ensembles including guitar, \u201cTango Laurentais\u201d won the Free-Scores.com composition competition in 2014 and the Indaba Tango Competition in 2016. <\/p>\n

Dan has a Bachelor of Music (First Class Honours) and a Master\u2019s degree (with Distinction) in Guitar Performance from the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, where he studied under the guidance of the renowned concert guitarist John Mills, participating in masterclasses with John Williams, David Russell, Simon Dinnigan, Robert Spencer, Ray Burley and Stephen Dodgson. He received the College\u2019s Annual Prize on four occasions, as well as the Composition Prize, the Ernest and Doris Haigh Memorial Prize, and a silver medal from the Worshipful Company of Musicians. <\/p>\n

He went on to teach guitar and music theory at his alma mater for twelve years, until 2010, and continues to return as a visiting tutor and examiner. While at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, he taught several visually-impaired students \u2014 a project that attracted the attention of HRH Prince Charles, who requested a meeting to learn more about the initiative. He later taught guitar, harmony and counterpoint at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland for four years.<\/p>\n

Now based in France with his family, he leads musical activities at the Bordeaux International School and teaches guitar at the music schools of Saint-Laurent-des-Hommes and Coutras.
